Government Relations: Marketing - U.S. and Foreign

At this time, SIGA’s biodefense products are in varying stages of research and development, and none is approved for use. As SIGA’s drugs gain approval in the U.S. and abroad, SIGA believes that governments around the world will express considerable interest in purchasing them, with the smallpox antiviral, ST-246®, likely to be the first to reach the market.

Beyond smallpox, all the pathogens targeted by SIGA’s programs are prevalent in nature and represent important threats to public health. No treatments exist for these diseases, which cause serious outbreaks and thousands of deaths each year in Africa, Asia, and, more recently, North America. Effective therapies could be highly valuable not only to the U.S. military, which could protect its troops stationed in affected countries, but to private corporations that wish to provide protection to their employees.
